Co-option enables the current occupants of a student house to jointly decide who the new occupant will be. This right is an integral part of the tenancy agreement. When a group room becomes available, the other occupants may indicate if they wish to make use of their right to co-opt. The housing corporation will pass on the details of candidates at the top of the waiting list so that the group can organize a viewing evening. The new tenant will then be chosen from the available candidates.
